Cache Care Days

Creating and maintaining a database of unique, high quality caches is one of the top priorities of the TerraCaching Community. With this in mind, we are launching a new program- Cache Care Days. Cache Care Days will encourage our members to visit caches or log on to the site to complete cache maintenance. We want to encourage our members to be proud of the caches that they place. Cache Care Days will be held on the last Saturday of each month. We will create a Community Page topic in "TerraTalk" each month for our members to post in and let us know what they did to maintain their caches or repair a fellow TerraCacher's cache that month.

In order to participate, you must complete one of the following actions:

Repair your TerraCache detail page.
You could correct your cache photos, add a cover photo or verify your data was correct. Remember, this is the first impression that any TerraCacher will have of your cache. The more correct and current your information is, the better your cache detail page will look. This is a great way to participate in Cache Care Days for any type of cache- Traditional, Locationless, or Cyber.

Visit one of your traditional TerraCaches.
Make sure your cache hasn't been muggled, check your container to verify that it is still waterproof and in good shape, make sure your logbook is intact and has room for future finders, and add some swag. While you are at ground zero, verify that you still get the same coordinates that are posted on your cache detail page.

Help a TerraCacher out.
If you are headed out to find a cache, help your fellow TerraCacher out. One of the best things about our community is how we all come together to continue making improvements. While you are finding a cache, treat it as if it were your own- bring an extra log book or container if you have room, add some swag, and make sure that the coordinates match up to the listed coordinates on the Cache Detail Page.

Find an old TerraCache.
We have plenty of exciting caches that haven't been found in the last 24 months- find one of these and verify that it is still in good shape and hasn't been smuggled. This helps out the cache owner, especially if it is in a remote location.

In order to receive credit for your Cache Care Days participation you must do the following things:

1. Post a log note on the cache detail page stating that you verified/updated the cache. Add CCDs or Cache Care Days to log or note.

2. Post on the Community Page topic for the respective month that you completed maintenance on a cache. Be sure to mention the cache name or cache ID!
