Administrative Adoption Process
The current process the TC Administrators have created in regards to adopting caches from non-responsive cache owners is as follows:
- The member interested in adoption will reach out to the current Cache Owner to see if they will agree to adopt the cache out. If they haven’t heard from the current Cache Owner in 48 hours, they can reach out to support ([email protected]) with the content of the message to the current Cache Owner.
- Support will then reach out to the Cache Owner to see if we can facilitate an adoption. If the Cache Owner has not responded within 24 hours, we will proceed to the next step (either #3 or #4).
- If the cache owner gives permission, we will facilitate the adoption of the cache.
- If we cannot reach the cache owner and the cache is still in a viable location (i.e not illegal or unsafe), we will encourage the member who wants to take over the cache to log it with a final log. This way, they will be able to log the points associated with the cache in its initial form. Then, support will archive the cache so that the member can hide a replacement cache in a similar location under their name. The member should reference the original cache. The cache will then begin collecting points on the new cache, which will also be reflected in the new owner’s TTPS points.
Since we don’t want to adopt out caches without the owner’s express permission, we will not put a cache up for adoption without the CO’s express approval. Please reference the Administrative Archival Procedure (coming soon) to follow steps to ensure a cache is appropriately archived if necessary.

Nice procedure but what if the cache has been archived and the CO is no longer active? The cache was archived (my reference case is TC4P9) because the photo required sign is no longer there, however, there are numerous other photo places to display the "find" so the archive can be removed.

It was archived under the 'banishment' process a while ago.
