Just wondering when we might get to see a fix for GPX files? I really would like to be able to update my GSAK files with some current information. As it is right now I cannot add any of the recent caches to the databases.
I see that the map still loads 8000+ caches even if I select only the nearest 100. Should it not only load the requested caches? I selected the state of Arizona and the map loaded 8000+ caches!
I see we still cannot answer a request for help if it is posted in the questions or request areas. This makes it a bit difficult to help those that are seeking assistance or to contribute to a discussion. This is intended to replace the old forum style, but is failing.
I like to keep my GSAK up to date so when we do get a chance to go out of town we can take the laptop along and check to see what is in the area.
When might we see some real improvement to caching related items.
If you go to the map and hit list for traditional caches How many pages (at 9 caches per page) will you need to look at to see all the available caches. Remember, there are well over 8500 caches! How long will it take to look at them all?

To be a bit facetious, the answer to how many pages you need to look at to see all available traditional caches is 1 (if you live in Norfolk UK) . Good job there are loads of locationless and cyber caches ;). To answer the obvious sequel to that, I have a few traditionals planned in the good old Kevin Costner tradition (If you place them, they will come- or something like that), small acorns etc..But to be a bit serious for a moment, I would put my thumbs up to the request for being able to comment on questions etc. and as soon as I post this I will do soRichard0 Points

Hi Jack and Richard, thank you for your ideas.Allocating Resources is always a challenge when they are limited. Please check out this blog post Sept 8-12 Updates. You can see that we happily whistled while we worked on an important fix for our friends from England that had caches along the prime meridian. On your issue with the 8000+ caches loading, you can hit the x to stop your browser from loading and then go to a ones that loaded in your area. We do have it on the list to apply the 100, but in the Test environment most people wanted the map to keep loading caches as you zoomed in and out or scrolled to new sections. The programmers are working on combining portions on the community page as you and WindpumpBoy have requested. This involved a major rework of the database structure so that we can also move post to the appropriate section. GSAK - GPX is next on our list.Cash0 Points

Stay tuned!
How long did we hear that while waiting for TC2, then TC3, and now for getting a GPX file that works. Someone said a while ago that the GPX fix should be a quick fix since it had been made while in beta!
It would be nice to see the list that shows the sequence of projects as you plan to work on them. You keep saying it is on the list, but where on the list? What is getting the priority treatment and what is relegated to bottom of the list?
The last Blog says nothing about GPX files or when they may become available.

Hi Jack (or is this Shirley?),Yes, we agree, a list of priorities of items that are being currently worked on and what the future lineup is something that would be helpful. We had one when we initially went live, but some members complained about the PDF. Unfortunately, this is the easiest way to release at this time. But I agree, we will put that resource back out this week. The GPX files that are more compatible with GSAK is being worked on by the programmers right now in conjunction with numerous Community Page updates, finding the best solution to speed up the Cache Hunt speeds and several other items. We appreciate your patience. I'm glad that you are reading the blog. Would you recommend that in addition to releasing the full list of priorities that we put a quick recap of what is being worked on as well? We want the blog to be a helpful place for people to go to be updated. I would love to hear your thoughts on if this would be a helpful thing to include in the weekly site update posts. Thanks again for all of your feedback!Christa0 Points

This is Jack, Shirley spells her name different from the way I spell Jack. I am using Shirley's computer at the moment.
If you are going to put up a list with the priorities you could mark each item in the list as to what is being done for it (re-writing the code, research how to resolve any problem preventing something from being accomplished, etc.).
I looked at the blog to see if anything had been accomplished with the GPX files & GSAK. Seeing nothing in the blog makes me believe that the team is more interested in looks than in functionality. GPX files are one of the main components when loading the GPSr or laptop when preparing for an outing.
A PDF is not needed since that information could be added to a page for the blog or as a separate page on the site. If it is a separate page, that page could then be updated as needed and any link that would be placed on TC3/Community-resources, would then point to that page and it would have the latest list available.
Remember, functionality is better than pretty.

Hi Jack, Richard, and Cash,Just wanted to provide you with an update- we have updated the GPX files for GSAK uploading, we have updated the speed of loading on the cache hunt page, and allowed for commenting on "Issue Report" items. We have recorded some of the issues that have been mentioned related to these topics on other threads and are continuing to work on improving both the core site and the Community Page.Thank you for your continued suggestions for improvements!Christa10 Points
