The idea behind TerraCaching is a decentralized approach with Sponsorship from two individuals.  These sponsors are meant to be your mentors and help you navigate the site as wells as people who would approve your caches.

If a sponsor goes inactive then you would need to change sponsors to a more active member until this person returns.  You can always switch back.  We had many members who returned and submitted caches only to find that their sponsors were not active.  Many did not want to change their original sponsors. 

They would bump the caches for approval which would take the approval process up the to their sponsor's sponsors, ie four new people could now approve the cache.  An issue arises when those four are also now inactive.  This led to many caches that were lost in the approval process.  To remove this frustration, we now have added a feature that when you bump the cache it will also go to the Captains.

Captain Clark and Captain Lewis are at the top of the Sponsor List.  It is a great honor to be sponsored by these two. They almost never sponsor new members. They now can approve bumped caches so this also in effect will be an honor for the TerraCaching Community.  They are explorers and I like to feel all of our community members are explorers at heart.

You will see old caches being approved by the Captains and I wanted an explanation on why.  These caches will be lost no more but now available to the TerraCaching Community for the Love of the Hunt.
