September Cache Care Days

End of September coming up, and I don't see a thread for Cache Care Days, so am creating this one. I had a good month for Cache Care Days, with more than two dozen done. They are listed below, and include quite a few caches visited for the first time in 5 or more years, verification that virtual cache CCs are still available, and in several places, replacement of old, missing caches. A drive through NJ and NY into Canada, then across Quebec and Ontario into Michigan, helped make this possible.

TCG9V - Right Honourable Arthur Meighen – FTF after 5 years

TC2YK – The Real Hiawatha – First find in 8 years, replaced missing cache, updated coordinates.

TC2NP - Pigeon Virtual – First find in 8 years.

TC2VY - Hiawatha - Not found for 8 years. Great trails in this park. Cache gone for sure - no place to miss an ammo can sized cache anywhere close to coordinates. Dropped new cache, used old CC, but tweaked coordinates and sent update to Cash.

TC2YF – Urban Camo #2 – First visit in 6 years. Verified it’s gone. Horrible location, on guard rail between lumber yard and back of strip mall, near all the power boxes for the stores. Certain to attract attention from workers at the lumber yard. And police will some day bug searchers. But I replaced with 35mm film can at exact coordinates and with the old CC.

TC2VQ – Urban Camo #1 – First visit in 6 years. Verified it’s gone. There is a new housing development where the store used to be. In the middle of the cul-de-sac. Needs to be archived.

TC2NO – DeGraaf Virtual – 1st visit in 6 years, good as is, sent cover photo to Cash.

TC22W - GeoBash – good as is, forgot photo

TC29A - White Lake Cemetery – good as is, sent cover photo to Cash, verified CC is correct

TCDJS – Vesper Goes to College – sent CO info on new location of benches, and sent him a cover photo

TCS6 – Don’t Get Caught Cheating – verified CC still works, cover photo to Cash.

TC9DZ - Cabin Fever – first visit in 5 years, verified CC still works, sent cover photo to Cash.

TC47B – Urban Camo #15 – First find in 8 years. Verified it’s gone. New bison tube container placed. No pen/no log – CC only. New coordinates and hint sent to Cash.

TC47D – Urban Camo #13 – First find in 8 years. Elevation change correct. Hike is about 240’ round trip, not zero.

TC26M - Oakland County’s First Terra Cache – first visit in 4 years. Major construction at this location. Replaced it and sent Cash info and cover photo.

TCDWC - Charles E. Burchfeild Nature & Art Center – first find in 4 years, cache container open and empty near final coordinates. Put in sheet of paper as new log and replaced where I think it’s supposed to be.

TCCK2 - Braddock Point Lighthouse – First visit in 5 years.

TCCK4 - Charlotte Genesee Lighthouse – First visit in 5 years. Cover photo to Cash.

TC7CP - Flying Saucer Landing Area #16 – First find in 9 years! Needs a total rewrite and changed coordinates. First of all, with so many DNFs years ago, it was almost certainly gone way back. But even if it’s there, it’s not accessible. The dog walking area the cache was located in is now only open to a dog club. And to go into the area, you have to join the county-run dog club, and only go into the area with your dog(s), and before you can do that you have to get a veterinarian to certify the dogs are up to date on rabies shots. So, I dropped a new container, with a log with the names of all the original finders, outside of the dog area fence.

TC7BP - White Bridge Road – first visit in 7 years. Cover photo to Cash.

TCY9S - Back School Road – FTF after sitting there untried for 7 years. Cover photo to Cash.

TCCKH - Brewerton Range Rear Lighthouse – first visit in 6 years, verified it’s still available, cover photo to Cash.

TC2LF - Half way - First find since placed in 2006, so FTF plus CCD. Sent a photo for use as cover picture.

TCCV7 - Borroughs St - First find since placed in 2009, so another FTF plus CCD. Sent cover photo.

TCDNT - The bones of lesser giants. – first visit in 5 years.

    Sept Cache Care Days:
Replaced Where's Ducky? TC58CH which had been muggled (stolen) on 9/13/15.  A group of us spent the morning kayaking, eating and hanging out and had a fine time doing this four mile paddle.

We went out on 9/5 to check out our Cohackett Brook multi (TCEXS), and went back on 9/26 to make repairs.

Replaced the broken CC at the final, relocated and updated coordinates. Added suggested parking location and tide chart to the listing page.

Any progress on the archive process?  I nominate TCCNH for removal:  Five stage multi placed 7 years ago, never found, never maintained, CO hasn't logged on to site since cache was placed and has never found a cache....
